Harvesting the hazelnuts

The hazelnuts harvesting in Tuscany starts from mid-August. The hazelnuts tree is a hardy plant that does not require special care.
In TERRA VERDE the plants are grown naturally, without any treatment, and the fruits are abundant and of excellent quality.
The plants are grown tree-shaped or bush-shaped. The leaves create a shady blanket over the ground and a very special ecosystem. Even the soil is different, darker and peaty.

The harvest is done manually, collecting the hazelnuts from the ground, and it continues until mid-September.
The collected hazelnuts should be left to dry in the sun. In this way they will last for long. With a bit of patience, you can toast shelled hazelnuts to make them ready for use in cakes and other delicious food.
